OpenDaylight Project How Overall ODP SDN Controller Works In a Nutshell

Let’s start this article “OpenDaylight project how overall ODP SDN controller works in a nutshell” with the short note about the OpenDaylight controller.

Functions of OpenDaylight Controller

The OpenDaylight controller is denoted as the exposer to open the northbound APIs and that is deployed through the applications. The applications are using the controllers to connect the information about the network and running the algorithms to conduct analytics for the utilization of OpenDaylight controller to create the novel rules throughout the network.

Utilization of ODP SDN Controller

Here, we have highlighted the requirements for the app creation based on the controller of software defined network.

  • Java 11 complaint JDK
  • Maven 3.8.3

Following that, we have to install the OpenDaylight SDN controller platform (OSCP) through the execution of the following commands in Ubuntu terminal

sudo apt-get remove openjdk-6-jre-lib openjdk-6-jre-headless

git clone ssh://<userid>@git.opendaylight.org:29418/net-virt-platform.git

./setup.sh

make

As the next process, we have to start the controller through the implementation of below mentioned commands in the terminal.

make start-sdnplatform

In addition, we have to install Mininet for the creation of sample OpenDaylight process based on the required process over the implementation of the below mentioned commands.

sudo mn –controller=remote –ip=127.0.0.1 –port=6633 –mac –topo=linear

As a final note, we are providing the complete guidance for the research scholars so people can reach us to aid more research assistance.
