How to Install NS3 in Ubuntu 14.04

  1. System requirements

    For install the NS-3.26 , we need the following minimum system requirements.
    1)OS : ubuntu-14.04 LTS(32 bit)
    2)RAM :minimum 2GB
    3)Processor: 2.5 GHz and aboveNS-3.26 System requirements

  2. Open the terminal and install the basic needed packages

    Initially,Next open the terminal by press ctrl+alt+T buttons or search from the installed software list. After open the terminal , we need to install the needed basic packages, by using the following commands,
    sudo apt-get install gcc g++ python python-dev mercurial bzr gdb valgrind gsl-bin libgsl0-dev libgsl0ldbl flex bison tcpdump sqlite sqlite3 libsqlite3-dev libxml2 libxml2-dev libgtk2.0-0 libgtk2.0-dev uncrustify doxygen graphviz imagemagick texlive texlive-latex-extra texlive-generic-extra texlive-generic-recommended texinfo dia texlive texlive-latex-extra texlive-extra-utils texlive-generic-recommended texi2html python-pygraphviz python-kiwi python-pygoocanvas libgoocanvas-dev python-pygccxml

  3. Download NS-3.26

    Download the package from the url https://www.nsnam.org/ns-3-26/download/
    By using this link , we can download the ns-allinone-3.26.tar.gz file. After download the ns-allinone-3.26.tar.gz, we need to copy and paste into home drive and extract the ns-allinone-3.26.tar.gz file int ns-allinone-3.26 folderDownload the package NS-3.26

  4. Change the location

    In the terminal change the ns3 package location by using the command, cd ns-allinone-3.26/NS3 package location

  5. Build the package

    After change the location check the file ./build.py is in the executable format. If the file is not in the executable format, then change the file into executable format , by using the command
    Sudo chmod +x ./build.py
    Next execute the command sudo ./build.py to build the package.Build The Executable File Package

  6. Execute the command

    Next execute the command sudo ./build.py to build the package.Execute the command package
