Performance Analysis of Hybrid Intrusion Detection Sinkhole Defense

Implementation plan:

Step 1: Initially, we constructed a WSN with 50 sensor nodes , 1 base station and 1 server with multi-hop routing.

Step 2: Next, we configure sinkhole node using drop or alter data packets from neighboring nodes.

Step 3: Then, we simulate the network and collect the data sent to the base station.

Step 4: Next, we implement an IDS (hybrid-based ) method to monitor traffic rates, packet loss, routing patterns, and energy anomalies.

Step 5: Next, we compute trust scores of each node to detect malicious nodes with low trust .

Step 6: Then, we isolate the detected malicious node and reroute its packets around it and restore its communication path.

Step 7: Finally, we plot performance for the following metrics:

7.1: Number of sensor nodes vs. Detection Accuracy(%)
7.2: Number of sensor nodes vs. Latency (ms)
7.3: Number of sensor nodes Vs. Packet delivery ratio(%)
7.4: Number of sensor nodes vs. Energy consumption (J)
7.5: Number of sensor nodes vs. False Positive Rate (%)

Software Requirements:

1. Development Tool: OMNeT++ 4.6 or above
2. Operating System: Windows 10 (64-bit) or above
