How do I connect my Mininet to the internet

Mininet is an emulator of a network and it is used to visualize the switches and the applications of software defined networks in a virtualized environment .Through this articles our research scholars provided the steps to connect Mininet to the internet.

Connect Mininet to the internet

Dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) is a client/server protocol that automatically provides an internet protocol (IP) host with its IP address .By using Dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) you can connect the Mininet to internet. For that process do the below steps in virtual Box environment.

Step 1:

In the virtual Box settings for your Mininet VM, add an additional interface to the VM and then set it to NAT.

Step 2:

And then start up your VM and add your new interface and that is named as eth2 in the VM.

Step 3:

Create a simple one host and one switch network and attach your VM interface (eth2) to the switch.

Step 4:

After processing the above steps, Start your Mininet Network.

Step 5:

Once the Mininet network starts then open an xterm window and execute the following     command,

• ifconfig h1-eth0 inet 0.0.0.0
• dhclient h1-eth0

   After that is done, you should be able to communicate with the internet.
