How do I create a network in Mininet

How do I create a network in Mininet

Mininet is majorly used as a learning tool to test, experiment, and learn about software -defined networks. Mininet is preferable  because it is very fast and help us to create customizable  topologies .In this article , the creation of network in Mininet are provided by our research experts .

Open Miniedit

To create a network using Mininet in Ubuntu, initially you need to open the Miniedit in Ubuntu by executed the following command in the Ubuntu terminal,

Cd /home/research/mininet/Network_Creation

sudo ./miniedit.py

Open Miniedit

Create a network in Mininet

By using   Miniedit  , You can create a software defined network (SDN) with the number of host nodes ,openflow switch ,legacy switch ,legacy router and also controller [POX ,NOX,RYU,Open Day Light ,Beacon ]

A host node represents a general purpose computer on the network, any physical or virtual computer system in your organization.

For creating a network, click and drag the Host nodes from the right side window,

After click and drag the host nodes, and then click and drag the switch nodes.

A switch is a node that is running an openflow switch.

Click and drag switch nodes

A controller node has algorithms to compute signals for feedback control, monitoring or supervision.

Followed by click and drag the host nodes switch nodes and then click and drag the controller nodes.

Click and drag controller nodes

Make a link between the three nodes,

  • Host node
  • Switch node
  • Controller node

The   final step is save the network file by click File   à save  à Enter the file name to save.

Save the network file
