How to Install NS3 in Ubuntu 12.04

Time needed: 5 minutes

Follow from Step 1 to Step 9 in order to create NS3 using Simulation projects. Quick guide to create NS3 simulation in Ubuntu 12.04. Reach us , if you want an customize NS3 simulation projects works for scholars.

1. Download the ns-3.20 package

   Download the needed software package ns-allinone-3.20 .tar.bz2 from the following url https://www.nsnam.org/releases/ns-3-20/

2. Update libraries

   Initially,open the terminal by press ctrl+alt+T buttons or search from the installed software list., update the system related libraries for the further new updated software installations.

3. Update software

   By using the commands sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade

4. Install the supported packages

   Next install the supported packages for the new NS3 installation. For the supported package installation we use the following command.
   sudo apt-get install build-essential autoconf automake libxmu-dev python-pygoocanvas python-pygraphviz cvs mercurial bzr git cmake p7zip-full python-matplotlib python-tk python-dev python-kiwi python-
   gnome2 python-gnome2-desktop-dev python-rsvg qt4-dev-tools qt4-qmake qt4-qmake qt4-default gnuplot-x11 wireshark

5. Install ns-3.20

   Change the location by using the command cd /home/research/ns-allinone-3.20

6. Install the package

   Install the package by using the command sudo ./build.py

7. Configure the package

   Change the location using the command cd ns-3.20. And configure the package by execute the command sudo ./waf configure

8. Execute the command

   Configure the package by execute the command sudo ./waf configure

9. Build the package

   Build the package by using the command sudo ./waf build to build the vusializer packages
