Types of Routing Protocols

A routing protocol used to guide routers to communicate with each devices  and also distributing information that enables them to select routes between any two nodes on a computer network.

The three types of Network Routing Protocols are , available  like,

  • Static routing
  • Default Routing
  • Dynamic Routing

During the Static routing process ,we have to manually add routes informations in routing table. During the default routing the router is configured to send all packets towards a next hop nodes and also it is forwarded out to router which is configured for default routing.  During the dynamic routing process, we makes the process of automatic adjustment of the routes according to the current state of the route in the routing table. In this process we uses protocols to discover network destinations and the routes to reach it.

List of Protocols

There are many routing protocols available in three subcategories. Proactive [OLSR,DSDV], reactive[AODV,DSR] and hybrid [ZRP,DDR]
