For install the NS-3.26 , we need the following minimum system requirements.
1)OS : ubuntu-16.04 LTS(64 bit)
2)RAM :minimum 2GB
3)Processor: 2.5 GHz and above
Initially,Next open the terminal by press ctrl+alt+T buttons or search from the installed software list.
Initially update the packages , which is based on the Operating systems , by using the command , sudo apt-get update

Next install the required packages by type the following command in the terminal:
sudo apt-get install build-essential gcc g++ bison flex perl tcl-dev tk-dev libxml2-dev zlib1g-dev default-jre doxygen graphviz libwebkitgtk-1.0-0
To enable the optional parallel simulation support you will need to install the MPI packages:
$ sudo apt-get install openmpi-bin libopenmpi-dev
Download the omnet++ package from the following url, in the site there multiple verion of the omnet++ is listed. Select your needed version of omnet++, here we select the eversion omnet++ 5.0, after that click the download button , which is displayed in the below of selected version

Initially, change the location by using the command cd omnetpp-5.0
Configure the package by using the command ./configure
Make and install the package by using the command -> make
