How to Run a NS2 Simulator on a Mac

Time needed: 5 minutes

Follow from Step 1 to Step 7 in order to create NS2 using Simulator projects. Quick guide to create NS2 simulator. Reach us , if you want an customize NS2 simulator projects works for scholars.

1. Download the NS-2.35

   Initially we need to download xcode package. After that download, we need to download the NS2 version from following link; http://www.isi.edu/nsnam/dist/release-2.35/RC8/

2. Extract and ./install inside the directory

   After download the package , we need to extract the downloaded package and store in the home drive. And change the location by using the following command,
   cd ns-allinone-2.35-RC8

3. Extract and install Package

   Next install the package , by using the following command
   ./install

4. Update the system path location

   After completing the installation type the following command in the command window and execute the command , like below,
   gedit ~/.bashrc

5. Editor window

   Now an editor window appears,please copy and paste the follwing codes
   export PATH=$PATH:/home/user/ns-allinone-2.35-RC8/bin:/home/user/ns-allinone-2.35-RC8/tcl8.5.8/unix:/home/user/ns-allinone-2.35-RC8/tk8.5.8/unix
   and also one more path called LD_LIBRARY_PATH
   export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=
   Save and close the text editor and then type the following command on the terminal
   source ~/.bashrc

6. Change the location and validate the installation

   Close the terminal window and start a new terminal window and now change the directory to ns-2.35 and validate ns-2.35 by exicuting the following command.
   cd ns-2.35

7. Execute the validate installation

   If the installation is successful, then you will be able to see % at the command prompt while typing the following command, ns command ./validate
